Brazilian-born Croatia striker Eduardo da Silva didn’t come close to winning a major trophy with his adopted country, but he played for a decade netting 29 times in 64 games. Eduardo da Silva was in the Croatian senior national team for a period of ten years from 2004 to 2014.

Eduardo had earlier featured for the Croatia u-21 team, netting eight times in 12 games. He made his debut for the senior team against the Republic of Ireland as a second half substitute at the age of 21. His first game was an international friendly with the Irish team in November 2004.Eduardo da Silva scored his first goal for Croatia against Hong Kong at the 2006 Carlsberg Cup. The tournament was hosted in the Asian nation of Hong Kong and Eduardo scored the third goal in the 4-0 demolition of the home team in the third/fourth place play-off.

Croatia manager Zlatko Krancjardidn’t take Eduardo da Silva with him to the 2006 FIFA World Cup tournament in Germany. According to him, he would count on his services in the future. Eduardo da Silva would make his return to the Croatia senior national teamunder new manager Slaven Bilic shortly after theWorld Cup on German soil. He made his return during the friendly win over Italy on August 16, 2006. Eduardo scored the first goal on the way to a 2-0 victory over the Italians. The striker later became a key player for Croatia during the qualifying campaign for the Euro 2008 tournament. His first competitive game for his adopted country came during the goalless draw with hosts Russia in a qualifier for Euro 2008.

Eduardo scored his first competitive goal for Croatia during the 2-0 home win over England. At the end of the Euro 2008 qualifiers, Eduardo da Silva scored ten times in 12 matches to emerge as the second topscorer behind David Healy of the Northern Ireland.

Croatian striker Eduardo da Silva represented his adopted country at both the Euro 2012 tournament and the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.
